Donate your used bikes

Freewheels wants that bike in your garage that you are no longer riding.

Our greatest need is for adult mountain bikes and hybrids with 26-inch and 700c wheels. We receive donated used bike during our workdays on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon at our warehouse at 6020 Jessamine #204, Houston, TX 77081 in southwest Houston.

Donated used bikes are evaluated by knowledgeable mechanics, repaired and cleaned before they are given to someone who needs transportation to work or school.

Freewheels plans to continue to focus on bikes for adults and teenagers for transportation. Children’s bikes will be cleaned, inspected, repaired and distributed as volunteer resources are available.

Many of the Afghan families who are arriving in Houston after evacuating with the Taliban takeover include young children. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the Pentagon told lawmakers that about half of the 53,000 Afghan evacuees brought to the U.S. and living at military installations are children.

It may not make sense for Freewheels to try to repair bikes that have been stored outside and that have extensive rust. The cost of replacement components and the time required for repair sometimes exceed our resources. If it’s not economic to repair a donated used bike, we often reclaim parts and components from it that can be used on other bikes.
