Kim Williams said the best part of a recent day volunteering at Freewheels Houston was helping four veterans get bikes, helmets and locks. “They were appreciative, yet fragile. I felt like we showed them love and care. It did my heart good! I really like the bike distribution job.”
Among the rewarding volunteer opportunities is distributing bikes to refugees, veterans, unhoused people, and young people who need transportation for work and school. Our bikes are donated by members of the community and repaired by volunteers.
Support Tasks include helping fit the right bike for the customer and demonstrating how to use a helmet and lock. Training is provided as needed.
Our work is very rewarding and brings a lot of smiles to our clients, along with much gratitude.
