Bike repair day

Recurring event see all

Feb. 4 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

Freewheels Houston volunteers repair bikes and learn new skills as they provide mobility to people who need a way to get to work, school and other destinations. We put an emphasis on safety, opportunities to put your skills to work and giving back.

We have three volunteer opportunities:

  • Bike mechanics: If you already know bike repair basics–brakes, derailleurs and other systems–we will put you to work on a bike right away.
  • Shop volunteers: If you are new to bike maintenance, we will ask you to clean bikes, fix flats and perform other tasks around the shop.
  • Freewheels Bike Connectors: We need people who want to help others and know the basics of safe bicycling to help distribute bikes to refugees and veterans emerging from homelessness. This opportunity will be available Jan. 14-15 only and is for adults only.

We welcome volunteers 14 years old and older to participate without parental supervision. Younger people may participate with parental supervision.

Before your first visit, please complete the volunteer consent and waiver and volunteer information form.
