Recent events are rippling through to the Houston community and the Freewheels Houston shop. We are already getting requests for bikes from interpreters who worked with U.S. forces in Afghanistan and are resettling in Houston with their families. Many seek an alternative to walking, riding the bus or relying on others for transportation. We continue to give bikes to refugee and immigrant Wisdom High School students and veterans emerging from homelessness.
To meet rising demand for safe, reliable transportation, Freewheels Houston needs your donations to make sure we have parts, helmets, locks and lights for each person who receives a bike. We also need proper tools to get the job done and a clean and efficient shop in which to work.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to Freewheels today.

Donate your used bike
Our greatest need is for adult mountain bikes and hybrids with 26-inch and 700c wheels.
We receive donated used bike during our workdays on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon at our warehouse at 6020 Jessamine #204, Houston, TX 77081 in southwest Houston.
Although our goal is to accept all bike donations, our current capacity to store children’s bikes is very limited.
Amazon wish list
When a refugee or veteran receives a clean, refurbished bike from Freewheels, he or she also receives equipment that will make the bike more useful and safe–including a lock, lights and a helmet–and a briefing on their use.
We have evaluated this equipment and identified some of the items that we will distribute. We’re also on the lookout for tools and other materials that will improve operations and the volunteers’ experience. Donating these items through our Amazon shopping list is another way to support our project. At this time, our generous supporters help us acquire helmets at a price that beats Amazon and other channels.AMAZON WISH LIST
